Benton is a growing, young town just north of Bossier City. It is connected to Barksdale Air Force Base primarily by Benton Road, which can be congested around 8 AM and 5 PM. Many families are moving north to Benton in order to find more peace and quiet, as well as larger lots in some newer developments. The public school system is highly esteemed, although most would agree that Bossier Parish’s other public school systems, in Bossier City and Haughton, should be held in high esteem, as well. Benton’s downtown area is making a move to become more hip and trendy, as developers slowly focus on the brief and quiet history of the areas and highlight the appeal of everything the town stands for: community and a high quality of living.
Benton Park is popular among families with children. In addition, Cypress Black BayouRecreation and Water Conservation District is a fun place to take a family to enjoy the woods, outdoors, camping, and boating.
The quaint and historic downtown area of Benton is becoming more popular, although not as much as central Bossier’s East Bank District. Benton has everything one would need currently, and as its population grows, the amenities should follow, as well.
